AKROMID® PA6.6 GF30

AKROMID® PA6.6 GF30
Polyamide 6.6 with 30% glass fiber reinforcement (PA6.6 GF30) is a special engineering plastic compound that is characterized by its high mechanical strength, rigidity and good resistance to chemicals. The glass fibers significantly improve the mechanical properties of PA6.6 and make it an ideal material for demanding technical applications.

Our production process: ICX®-Technology
ICX®-Technology (Innovative Compounding and Extrusion Technology) is a standardized machine concept developed by AKRO-PLASTIC in cooperation with FEDDEM. It enables flexible, globally standardized production of plastic compounds with high batch consistency and product quality. The use of identical systems and processes at all sites, as well as certified quality management, results in time and cost savings in material validation.
The technology is characterized by precise process control, lower glass fibre content with the same strength and reduced machine wear. Thanks to modular extruders, the process length can be flexibly adapted, which enables additives to be optimally incorporated. In addition, ICX® allows the production of different pellet types - from standard to micro and long fiber pellets - for a wide range of applications, including 3D printing and highly filled materials.

Difference between PA6.6 GF30 and PA6 GF30 polyamides
Despite some similarities between PA6.6 GF30 and PA6 GF30 compounds, there are significant differences between these two materials. Both compounds belong to the polyamide group, but differ in terms of their chemical structure and therefore also their mechanical properties. In the freshly injected state, the mechanical properties hardly differ and are influenced by the glass fiber content.
Chemical Differences
Compound | Chemical Differences | Applications |
---|---|---|
PA6.6 GF30 | Is synthesized from hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid,
Higher melting point compared to PA 6,
Low water absorption and low impact strength in the conditioned state,
Processing at 280 - 300°C,
Short cycle time | Frequently used in cooling systems for the automotive industry in contact with coolants |
PA6 GF30 | Made from caprolactam,
Lower melting point compared to PA 6.6
Processing at 270 - 290°C,
Short cycle time and better surface quality compared to PA6.6 | Often used for applications that have high demands on surface quality |

AKROMID® - High strength polymers
Find out more about our compounds
Together with polyamide 6, polyamide 6.6 is the most commonly used plastic among engineering thermoplastics due to its versatility. They are robust, abrasion resistant and offer excellent strength, stiffness and resistance to hydrocarbons. To improve performance, they can also be reinforced with glass or carbon fibers.
