PRECITE® PBT, PRECITE® PET

Precision to Detail

PRECITE® is the brand for thermoplastic polyesters at AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH. Due its low moisture absorption, PRECITE® has an exceptionally high dimensional stability in comparison to polyamides and is used for applications with high demands to precision. Furthermore, the thermoplastic polyesters have an outstanding heat aging performance as well as excellent gliding properties and wear resistance.

PRECITE® as a sustainable alternative

Polyester compounds for precise applications

The PRECITE® portfolio focuses on reinforced PBT and PET up to 50 % glass fibers or other fillers especially our carbon fibre reinforcement.

PRECITE® consists of PBT, PET, PBT/PET blend, PBT/ASA blend and can be offered as flame-retardant or hydrolysis resistant compound.

PET carbon footprint compared to other polyesters

Low carbon footprint

Because of their lower carbon footprint, polyester can be used as a sustainable alternative to polyamides. Furthermore, AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH will offer PRECITE® NEXT compounds with a biomass balanced PBT, where sugar is used as raw material.

Particularly notable is that within the polyester family, PET has an approx. 50% lower carbon footprint. This combined with the higher mechanical performance to other engineering plastics, offers an excellent very good technical solution. Our ECO range of polyester products comes from post-consumer recyclates, specifically from bottles. The mechanical properties hardly differ from Vergin PET.

PRECITE® PBT

Product Characterisation

PRECITE® thermoplastic polyesters are based on polybutylene- or polyethylene-terephthalate (PBT or PET) and have a unique combination of properties to cover the high requirements of a variety of complex applications. PRECITE® features a very high stiffness and strength as well as low moisture absorption leading to an exceptional dimensional stability. Furthermore PRECITE® has an outstanding heat aging performance as well as excellent gliding properties and wear resistance. The smooth ICX® compounding technology maintains as much ductility as possible in the compound, leading to a superior combination of strength and elongation at break as PRECITE® PRECITE® P3 GF 50 black (6925) shows.

PRECITE® is available as pure PBT or PET, as well as a blend. Pure PET blends show the highest mechanical performance due to their higher crystallinity.

PET the new PPA?

With a TG of 80°C, PET shows clear strengths compared to standard polyamides. The mechanical performance is comparable to that of a PPA. In addition, there is low water absorption, which is a significant advantage in precise and highly stressed applications. Not convinced yet?

Dimensional stability, media resistance

Automotive

Especially in automotive, the dimensional stability, the resistance against fuels and lubricants as well as the good long-term thermal behavior enable PRECITE® to be the first choice for many components in the electric segment. Typical applications are fuse boxes, door locking modules as well as housings for electric motors for wipers, window lift or seat adjustment. Also small components like connectors and switches with tight tolerances require the precision of PBT compounds.
