E&E Market

Engineering plastics are a core component of electrical and electronic applications. In housing components, connectors, and circuit elements, plastics ensure electrical safety. Specific requirements exist with regard to electrical insulation for personal safety and to protect electrical systems from short circuits or arcing.
International and national standards, such as UL 94 or IEC 60695, define the requirements and required material properties. Standardized test procedures are used to examine the insulation behavior, tracking resistance, ignitability, flame resistance, and self-extinguishing properties of materials. Based on your requirements, we will find the optimal solution for your application from our portfolio.

AKROMID® C3 GF 30 1 FR grey (8804)
Our UL-listed product, colored in RAL 7035, features attractive surfaces, good flow, and state-of-the-art flame retardant technology, free of halogens, antimony trioxide, red phosphorus, PFAS, melamine-containing substances, and zinc borate. This results in easy processing with low deposit formation and a non-critical product from a regulatory perspective. Furthermore, AKROMID® C3 GF 30 1 FR grey (8804) exhibits outstanding RTI values combined with a UL94 V0 classification for wall thicknesses of 0.4 mm and above. The electrical RTI value is 150 °C. Possible applications include housing components for switches and contactors.

AKROLOY® PARA GF 35 FR natural (8038)
Our product AKROLOY® PARA GF 35 FR natural (8038) is characterized by high mechanical properties (tensile modulus of 14,500 MPa and tensile strength of 190 MPa) over a wide temperature range, low moisture absorption, and excellent surface finishes. It also exhibits high arc resistance and a UL94 V0 rating from 0.4 mm component thickness, excellent GWIT values, and a high CTI of 600 V. It is the perfect candidate for replacing thermoset materials.

AKROMID® T91 GF 30 FR black (8184)
AKROMID® T91 GF 30 FR black (8184) is a flame-retardant polyamide 9T with 30% glass fibers. The product's flowability has been optimized for thin-walled components. Its high melting point of 305 °C and low water absorption make it suitable for SMT components, among other applications. The material has been tested for its performance in the reflow soldering process and shows no blistering, even at a JEDEC level of 1 for component thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 1.2 mm. This grade also stands out with its attractive surfaces and excellent laser markability.

AKROMID® B28 GM 15/15 FR black (8750)
Our UL-listed AKROMID® B28 GM 15/15 FR black (8750) is a blend of 15% glass fiber and 15% glass beads, resulting in a 15% recycled content (PIR). The product is characterized by high flowability, very good surface properties, low warpage, and excellent laser markability. This makes it ideal for enclosure applications in the E&E industry. It achieves the UL94 V0 classification for component thicknesses of 0.8 mm and above and has a CTI value of 600 V. The product is also available in natural and colored according to RAL 7035.
The product is also available based on biomass-balanced raw materials, which can further reduce the carbon footprint: AKROMID® NEXT B28 GM 15/15 1 FR black (8750BMBCI).
