Glass fibre reinforced polyamide

Children's wheel from Affenzahn

The wheel frame is characterised by its light and strong frame made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide (AKROMID® B3 GF 30 1 natural (2464)). It is injection moulded using water injection technology (WIT). "This exploits the full design and lightweight potential of the material with closed profiles, so that the complete wheel weighs well under 4 kg" says Michael Rieck, Head of Innovation Management at AKRO-PLASTIC. According to the manufacturer, the wheel is available in four different colors. For the coloring, masterbatches from AF-COLOR, a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, are used to guarantee high color quality and durability. The dyed-through frame is thus insensitive to scratches and the like, in contrast to a lacquered finish.

According to the manufacturer Fond OF, the wheel is equipped with innovative functions: "The wheel is equipped with a 12" rear wheel and 14" large front wheel, which additionally facilitates the crossing of obstacles, almost like a mountain bike. This makes every obstacle child's play. The frame is designed with children in mind and the low entry makes it easy to get on and off. And of course, the running bike comes with its own monkey wheels," explains Oliver Schlieben, Head of Product and Innovation at Fond OF.

The bike is suitable for children from 1.5 years of age and is approved for a total weight of up to 30 kg.
