PA9T Newcomer for HV applications

AKROMID® T91 GF 30 FR orange (8104) - PA9T - A Newcomer for High-Voltage Applications

For high-voltage connectors in e-mobility, AKROMID® T91 GF 30 FR orange (8104) offers a particularly safe and reliable solution. The material stands out for its high stiffness and strength, even when conditioned and is available in orange similar to RAL 2003. It remains color-stable even under thermal stress and can be precisely marked with a UV laser thanks to its excellent laser-markability. Its high flowability allows for thin-walled, visually high-quality components, while its low water absorption ensures excellent electrical properties up to 150°C, both in the conditioned state and after heat aging.
Compared to other halogen-free, flame-retardant PPAs, the material exhibits a barely measurable corrosive effect, which significantly reduces wear on injection molding machines and increases process reliability.

The combination of stability, durability, and reliable performance makes it the preferred material for demanding high-voltage applications.

thermal runaway
Top Choice for thermal runaway requirements

AKROLOY® PARA GF 35 FR orange (8039)

Thermal runaway is an uncontrolled chain reaction within batteries, which leads to self-destruction of the cells caused by internal heat generation. This leads to a rapid rise in temperature (possibly exceeding 1000 °C).

AKROLOY® PARA GF 35 FR orange (8039) withstands exposure to a 500 W flame for over 10 minutes at a component thickness of just 2 mm. This leads to temperatures of up to 1200 °C. The temperature rise the back is moderate, at a maximum of 115 °C.

It also passes 6 cycles in the Torch and Grit Test (TaG) with a plate thickness of just 3 mm. In this test, the sample is alternately exposed to a 500 W flame for 15 seconds, followed by 5 seconds of high-velocity particle impact. This reflects one cycle. The material performs significantly better in this test than other established materials on the market, which is why there is no need to incorporate additional materials such as organosheets or thermal barrier sheets. This leads to a reduction of process complexity and costs.

Tailored for Parts > 1.6 mm wall thickness

AKROMID® B28 GF 30 9 FR orange (8645)

AKROMID® B28 GF 30 9 FR orange (8645), a flame-retardant PA6 compound with 30% glass fibers, colored orange, similar to RAL 2003, was specially developed for high-voltage components (HV connectors, busbars, or housings). The flame-retardant system is based on the latest technology and is free of red phosphorus, halogens, antimony trioxide, zinc borate, and PFAS. It therefore complies with the latest regulatory requirements and offers significant processing advantages such as reduced corrosion susceptibility and reduced deposit formation.

This grade is UL listed with a UL94 V0 classification at 1.6 mm. Due to its excellent flowability, it is characterized by easy processing and good surface properties. The material possesses excellent long-term thermal stability and outstanding mechanical properties. The product is available with a glass fiber content of 25% to 35%, in natural and colored in RAL 2003 or black.

The products are also available based on biomass-balanced raw materials: AKROMID® NEXT B28 GF 30 9 FR black (8342BMBCI).
