SPE Awards 2021
The 20th SPE Automotive Award took place on 18.09.2021 in Neuss. More than 40 vehicle parts were submitted and honored. Some of these parts had quite spectacular details, which at first sight were not noticed at all.
Minth Europe has won the 2nd place in the category Chassis Unit / Structural Component together with AKRO-PLASTIC and PME fluidtec for the roof rails of the Hyundai iX25. With this, they managed to replace an aluminum construction in series production. Despite different wall thicknesses in the component, a surface free of sink marks could be achieved as well as a Class A coating. The highly reinforced product AKROMID® B3 GF 50 1 GIT (4733) was used for this purpose. In combination with the internal water pressure process, not only a weight reduction but also very short cycle times could be achieved.
In this innovative process, the component is filled with the polyamide and after a short holding time the melt is blown out under melt pressure with the aid of water.
