AKRO-PLASTIC best in nylon
Akro-Plastic is producing high strength nylon compounds. The latest development is AKROLOY PARA ICF 40 (6128) black an 40% carbon (picture) reinforced Polyarylamid. With almost 40 GPa stiffness and 420 MPa flex strength one of the strongest grades in the portfolio. The bucket produced by our Brasilian customer (https://www.ucelo.com.br/) is showing the outstanding characteristics of this grade. The video is showing a stress test with 6.5 tons Traktor with almost 3,5 tons on the back wheels.
This is what we call metal substitution.
Impressive feature, we can metallize the grade as well so we get in addition to the high strength and stiffness and glossy surface an Metal look surface finish.
Highly reinforced compounds are ideal for use in automotive interiors where stiffness and high toughness are important. They are frequently used in airbag components, cup holders, glove compartment handles, air duct holders, multifunction switches and switch housings.
Metal Substitution and Weight Reduction
Driving down costs and reducing weight has been a critical objective in many industries. One of the most effective ways of achieving this is to substitute metal with plastic.
