Alternative to PA 6.6

The Polyamide with Reduced Moisture Absorption

AKROMID® RM

AKRO-PLASTIC has successfully met the challenge of developing a polyamide which exhibits the typical, positive properties of PA 6 yet has lower water / moisture absorption rates. The AKROMID® RM-M series has significantly lower moisture absorbing compared to standard PA 6. This lower water absorption resultes in higher stiffness and strength in conditioned state and greater dimentional stability. Weight saving is therefore possible. 

AKROMID® RM-M is suitable as a construction material for components subjected to high mechanical loads. This product line is offered exclusively in reinforced compounds with different glassfibre contents.

What solutions can AKRO-PLASTIC offer that brings value?

Heat ageing at 150 °C in air

•  Standard PA 6 and even the RM-M grade have a better performance than PA 6.6 after heat ageing in air

•  Already after 500 h: Strength (PA 6) > Strength (PA 6.6)

Tensile strength in conditioned state

•  Reduced Moisture grades

•  AKROMID® B3 GF 30 RM-M almost matches the strength of standard PA 6.6 GF 30 available on the market

 

Moisture absorption as a function of exposure time

•  The AKROMID® RM-M series has significantly lower moisture absorbing compared to standard PA 6.

•  RM-M grades with 30 % glass-fibre content absorb just as much water as a standard PA 6 grade with 50 % glass-fibre content.
