Polyamide 6.10 for High-Impact Resistance
Polyamide 6.10 is made by polycondensing hexamethylenediamine and sebacic acid, which is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant. PA 6.10 can be said to come partly from a renewable resource since over half its weight is derived from sebacic acid.
High Performance
Traditionally used to produce monofilaments, PA 6.10 is a long-chain polyamide that is now largely used in applications that demand high thermal, chemical and hydrolysis resistance as well as good dimensional stability. It is commonly found in applications surrounding the automotive and heating and plumbing sectors.
Low Moisture Absorption
Technically, PA 6.10 closes the gap between PA6, PA 6.6 and PA 12. It is characterised by significantly reduced moisture absorption in contrast to PA6 and PA 6.6. Typical values at 70° C and 62 % relative humidity are for PA6 with 3 % moisture absorption and 2.2 % moisture absorption for PA 6.6, dependent on the reinforcement level.

Discover the Benefits of AKROMID® S
AKROMID® S Offers Excellent Moisture Resistance
AKRO-PLASTIC’s AKROMID® S PA 6.10 exhibits approximately half the moisture absorption of PA 6 and PA 6.6. This makes it an effective engineering material for applications that require high dimensional stability. Besides enhanced low-temperature impact strength, the product shows a very good chemical and hydrolysis resistance due to its polymer structure. However, the product’s processing characteristics correspond to that of a PA 6.
A Reduced Ecological Footprint With AKROMID® S
AKROMID® S (PA 6.10) is made using 60 % renewable raw materials, allowing manufactures to meet increasing demands for this type of environmentally-friendly product. The plant-based raw material used is sebacic acid, synthesised from castor oil, which is obtained from the seeds of Ricinus communis, the castor oil plant.
