AKRO-PLASTIC experienced successful exhibition premiere in Stuttgart
The AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, specialist for innovative and applicationoriented plastic compounds, draws a positive balance of the first technology crossing supplier exhibition.
The new supplier exhibition for metal working, electronics, plastic compounds, semi-finished products, design and construction, taking place in the core of the biggest industrial region in Europe has awaken interest in the plastic compounder, due to the great amount of visitors from different sectors of industry. "In contrast to exhibitions focussing only on plastic, where we are also represented as exhibitors, we could also establish a contact to those visitors at the Südtec, not having extensive knowledge in plastics", according to Leander Bergmann, Head of Sales at AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH. "Due to the fact, that the main focus was based on metal processing, we could offer an interesting alternative with our products, being particularly developed for metal substitution", according to Bergmann.
The substitution of metals in all industrial range has significantly increased within the last years. Besides reduction in weight, being considerably important in these days due to high oil prices, a high design freedom as well as an outstanding stiffness are telling arguments for economical as well as technical alternatives in contrast to metals, which have been used up to now.
AKRO-PLASTIC has developed a product with the special blend AKROLOY® PA, based on PA 6.6, significantly reducing the disadvantageous features of a polyamide for the application area metal substitution. One of those features is the moisture absorption, leading to reduction of stiffness, resitance and tensile-creep modulus and consequently to a lower dimensional stability of material.
Applications, striving for a substitution of die-cast metals, are associated with usually unrealizable requirements of engineering plastics, demonstrating that the application of polyamides could only be realized in exceptional cases, even with high reinforced grades with up to 60 %, due to these reduced mechanical features.
By blending of PA 6.6 with a partly aromatic CoPA (PA 6I/6T) it has been archived to considerably reduce influence of moisture according to product features. While reduction of stiffness of a 50 % glass fiber reinforced PA 6.6 contains about 50 % at normal climate, the partly aromatic blend AKROLOY® PA shows a better swelling behavior and according to this an improved dimensional stability. The material mix increases the glass transition temperature at the same time.
AKRO-PLASTIC could establish new, interesting contacts at the Südtec and draws a positive balance of the exhibition, being organized for the first time with regard to the Medtec.
